Showcases Global Strength in Building Materials Sector with US$11.13 Billion in Exports and 9% GDP Contribution
Mumbai/New Delhi, April 13, 2025: The grand inauguration of Vibrant Buildcon 2025 was held today at the prestigious Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, New Delhi, by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, alongside Brand Ambassador of Vibrant Buildcon, Suniel Shetty. The mega event, themed “One Nation, One Expo”, is a first-of-its-kind initiative that brings all building materials under one roof and will run till 16th April 2025.
Showcasing India’s meteoric rise in the construction and building materials sector, the expo comes at a time when the Ceramic & Building Materials sector contributed 9% to India’s GDP in 2024, driving 51 million jobs nationwide. With exports from the building & construction sector under CAPEXIL touching US$11.13 billion in 2023-24 and a steady CAGR of 7.27% over five years, India is cementing its place as a global powerhouse. The construction industry in India is projected to grow at over 6% CAGR between 2024 and 2033, with Rs. 2,528.80 billion average GDP contribution between 2011-2024. Globally, India now produces a staggering 21.6 million sq. mtrs. of ceramic tiles daily, India exported ceramic tiles worth USD 3.2 billion, highlighting its strong presence in the global building materials market, and also holds 20% of the world’s. granite resources.
Union Minister Shri Piyush Goyal stated that Vibrant Buildcon is an industry-led expo that has been initiated without taking a single penny from the government, calling it a remarkable achievement. He highlighted that this initiative reflects the strength, unity, and self-reliance of India’s building materials industry.
He further added, “The first day, first show has been phenomenal, and I truly believe that this expo will grow 10 times bigger next year. India will not settle for small achievements -we are here to build marvels. Our vision is clear: India’s infrastructure must be number one in the world. Looking at the success of Vibrant Buildcon and the immense potential of the infrastructure and building materials sector, one venue alone will not be enough to host this exhibition in the future.”
More than 700 international buyers from over 60 countries, including the USA, UK, UAE, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, have joined the expo to explore India’s massive potential. With exports of plywood (US$1.48B), natural stones (US$1.90B), and paints (US$280M) showing consistent growth, India is becoming a global hub for building material exports. The paint and coating industry alone is now valued at INR 73,000 Cr, and India’s glue, adhesive, and chemical sector is expected to double from USD 2.7B in 2024 to USD 5.5B by 2032 at an impressive CAGR of 9.2%. Jitendra Kathiriya and Vijay Aghara, Directors of Vibrant Buildcon, expressed their gratitude, saying, “We are overwhelmed by the industry’s response and thankful to the Ministry of Commerce and Government of India.
